Are Altoids Halal?
Edited By Staff Writer, Halal Incorp
Altoids are a entity of intensely flavoured breath mints, well known for their signature metal tins. First released in 1780 by a London confectioner, they were originally marketed to soothe stomach discomfort and problems.
Their tag line is “The Original Celebrated Curiously Strong Mints”, because the lozenges use a high concentration of focussed real peppermint oil.
In modern times, they come in multiple flavours like peppermint, wintergreen, spearmint as well as cinnamon, offering a familiar yet powerful minty freshness in a compact, portable form.

We contacted Mars Wrigley UK about Altoids to ask if they are Halal, they responded with:
“Hi,
Thank you for contacting us about ALTOIDS®. We appreciate your interest in our product and we understand the importance on whether the product suits the dietary needs of British Muslims.
Unfortunately, we do not have a list of products suitable for a halal diet. However, we do have many products within our range that are suitable for a vegetarian diet.
To ensure that our consumers are able to make an educated decision if our products are suitable for their dietary needs, all of our products will state if they are suitable for vegetarians as well as an ingredient list.
Please note that we do not add alcohol to our current range of products, but we would always recommend checking the ingredients before. We hope this information has been helpful.
If you have further questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.
Kind regards,
ArkMars
