Salam Planet Acquires Halal Dining Club

In major industry news Salam Planet has now acquired the Halal Dining Club which was launched three years ago. The app was released in 2016 with the aim of allowing food enthusiasts to locate, critique and book Halal restaurants whilst earning incentives such as loyalty points.

The Halal Dining App Club tells its story on its website as:

‘Enjoying and sharing good food brings people together and creates happy memories from the scents and flavours that transport you to memories of an exotic holiday to comforting childhood favourites or discovering new flavours and textures. We are food explorers and love to try new cuisines and flavours but when we went looking for the best way to discover new Halal food and restaurants, we couldn’t find a solution we were happy with – so we decided to create our own! We wanted a single place to go to where we could discover dining options that fit our individual preferences, review and book restaurants and, at the same time, use this sense of community to give back to the world around us.’

The Halal Dining Club has more than 4000 restaurants compiled into its database. The data includes Halal culinary delights from around the world in cities & places such as London, New York, Singapore & Bangkok with a staggering 1 million weekly reach of its users across its platforms. The brand was co-founded by Siddika Jaffer, Helen Duce & Usman Zubair. Investors and advisors include Rushdi Siddiqui a top 50 leader in the Islamic economy, Dr Virginia Cha a veteran tech investor and Arnie Sriskandarajah, Forbes 30 under 30, 2016.

Salam Gateway reported that the Copenhagen-based Promentum Equity Partners, the VC behind Salam Planet commented, “The opportunity in the digital Islamic Economy is huge and relatively untapped. The combination of Salam Planet’s strength in attracting Muslim lifestyle users to the platform and Halal Dining Club’s proposition into the dining space creates a stronger consumer proposition and will bring Salam Planet one step closer to delivering on its vision to create a global social media lifestyle platform and marketplace addressing Muslim communities.”
