Shelina Begum, M.E.N business editor, said: “We are really excited to be launching our inaugural M.E.N Tech Awards.
“The UK has a vibrant technology sector and Manchester is one tech cluster that is leading the way.
“Thanks to a combination of talent, location, a business friendly environment, world-leading universities, we’ve seen this sector grow year on year.
“Not only are we seeing a growing number of new starts ups and innovations, but the region has also attracted global tech companies including Amazon, Booking.com and Hewlett Packard with MoneySupermarket.com recently announcing a new location in Spinningfields.
“According to Tech Nation, Manchester has the biggest cluster of high-performing digital firms in the country.
‘”It is home to a significant number of leading firms in IT, media and entertainment, and fintech. It’s big on innovation, it’s got talent and expertise and it’s also got the space to house these companies, whether it’s in the Northern Quarter, city centre Manchester or in Salford’s New Bailey or MediaCityUK.
“With so much growth and investment from this sector alone, we wanted to start by celebrating those firms that are championing tech and inspiring the next generation of entrepreneurs and technologists.”
Deadline for entries is Friday 17 May. The awards ceremony will take place on Thursday 18 July at the Runway Visitor Park, Concorde Conference Centre, Altrincham.
