“Initially I had chosen to dine at Evelyn’s due to the substantial positive reviews and the fact that they serve halal meat.
There was a queue in front of us, lone diners and 2 groups of 3. Me and my friend were seated on the windows 3 minutes after entering the bustling restaurant.
There was a nice uplifting vibe at Evelyn’s and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. There was a full house and 2 waiters who were working ever so hard at midday. The staff were very helpful, assisted us with choosing our order. They also provided a fast and efficient service.
I ordered mint tea and shakshuka with the optional extra of a lamb sausage.
The mint tea was as expected; piping hot and I got about 3 cups out of the tea pot.
This was the 2nd shakshuka I have ever had, and this was definitely a proper shakshuka. The tomato sauce was piping hot with a perfect consistency. The egg was cooked to perfection and had a dippy yolk. The feta cheese added a touch of creaminess to concoction. The lamb sausage along with the chickpeas and lamb sausage both had a light kick of chilli and were a lovely source of protein. The thick sliced bread was toasted and buttered just right snd perfect for dipping.
Happy days.
I will definitely be back again to try other items on the menu.

“Went here for brunch on a Sunday. We booked in advance as it is bookings only on a Sunday, so make sure you do on a Sunday or you will be turned away. Place was busy when we turned up at 11.30am. Greeted by a lovely host. The restaurant is small and cozy and nicely decorated. To drink we ordered Vietnamese ice coffee which could have been stronger, coffee wise. Then we ordered the Shakshuka, Avocado toast with poached egg and the pancakes. The Shakshuka was nicely spiced and the crispy chickpeas were lovely. Unfortunately my egg whites were still a bit runny and I would have preferred another slice of toast. My partner enjoyed his Avocado toast. The pancakes looked like Yorkshire puddings which I have never seen before! They were very tasty though. Light, not dense and stodgy. I would have liked some more sauce and possibly some type of cream. This place is also halal and do not serve pork. Overall enjoyed eating here and will be going back to try the Sunday dinner!

“If you are heading to Manchester this is the place to go for one of the best roast dinners I’ve had. Let’s start with the service which was really, our server was very accommodating from the very start in finding us a nice quiet place to sit even though they were pretty busy.
As for the food it was like a home cooked meal! The meat was tender and moist, the potatoes crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside and the gravy was a silky concoction that bound everything together in true harmony. As for the portion it is definitely a big one.
I will revisit Evelyn’s Cafe when I return to Manchester to try more of the menu.
The food served here is Halalحلال“

“Had the most wonderful brunch today. Luckily my wife and I were accommodated without a booking which was really appreciated.
The atmosphere is very relaxing and the decor is lovely. We were served by Jason who was very attentive and professional.
All the meat is Halal so the whole menu looked really appealing.
We ordered the pancakes and the steak and eggs. Had a bit of a wait for food but it was totally worth it. The pancakes are super fluffy served with a berry compote.
The steak and eggs are sensational, very well seasoned, packed full of flavour and the crunchy potatoes are moreish!
Best brunch we’ve had, would highly recommend. We will definitely be back again next time we’re in Manchester.

“First of all, the customer service is fantastic, very energetic and friendly staff. Went in as soon as it opened so no queues. Reservations are recommended during busy times. I had the pancakes which were amazing, very fluffy and not too over the top with toppings. Very flexible with their menu as well. All their meat is halal which is a fantastic option. Would highly recommend as a great breakfast place in Manchester”

“Fabulous food in a cool, totally chilled out and stylish cafe. Very cosy and full of real plants!
The service was great, and they even let me have a cutting of one of their lush ivys.
I hope it grows!
The buttermilk pancakes were the fluffiest I’ve had anywhere.
Can’t wait to go back for some more Sunday morning relaxing and people watching.
Oh and did I mention that the kind people at Evelyn’s have made all the meat halal?
How terribly civilised and accommodating!”
