Evening Clutch Bags
Exquisite yet eco-friendly clutch bags are made from recycled plastic and woven fibers of abaca ; a plant native to the Philippines. It’s creator, Iman Montayre, named it as one of her dream projects. The project aims to help the environment eradicate waste and offer solution to the growing problem of pollution and joblessness in her country.
The Philippines, Cebu especially, was dubbed as the furniture and handicrafts capital of Asia in the 90’s. They cater to markets all over the world with their products ranging from fashion accessories to home decors, to furniture’s, from average to high-end markets, with the use of the country’s indigenous materials.
For fifty years Philippines was one of the most sought- after exporters of high-end furniture and home decors. Italian, French, Japanese companies among many others build factories in the country. But until other competing countries developed an industrialised mass-production of these products that made all these companies to close down their Philippine factories.

“I believe the world needs to deal with global warming and pollution. Putting that in mind, I had thought of making use of those wastes by recycling them and make them useful once again. So I teamed up with a factory that recycles used plastics to make a carcass and casing for my bags. And then I had it covered with woven natural fibers hat are locally resourced. Then the final touch rests with me and my creative team.”
