As well as this, some commercial varieties may include alcohol as a side product of fermentation or preservatives, which would then render this unsuitable for Muslims.

To make sure the kimchi is Halal, it’s important to look at the ingredient list thoroughly. Search for Halal-certified items or opt for vegetarian or vegan versions, which generally exclude any animal-derived components.

Many entities now orientate towards Halal customers by superficially labelling their items or by using plant-based alternatives.

Muslim customers can also create homemade varieties by using Halal-certified or plant-based elements, which offer full control over what actually goes into the cusine.

To summarise, kimchi can be Halal, however it relates to the specific components and prep methods. By being considerate of what is inside & picking Halal-certified or vegan varieties, those adhering to a Halal diet can consume kimchi & enjoy it fully.
