Is Wingstop Halal? Here’s What You Should Know
If you love crispy, saucy chicken wings, Wingstop is probably on your radar. But for those who adhere to a Halal diet, a big question arises: Is Wingstop Halal?
Summarised: It depends on the location. In America, Wingstop does not claim to serve Halal-certified chicken.
The organisation hasn’t made any official statements about offering Halal meat, and there’s also a risk of cross-contamination since some menu items, like pork-based sides, are present in the kitchen.

Moreover, the issue varies in other countries. In areas with a large Muslim population, such as the U.K., UAE, and Indonesia, some Wingstop branches do serve Halal-certified chicken. These restaurants aim to source their meat from approved Halal suppliers and follow proper preparation standards to meet Halal dietary requirements.

We visited the UK Wingstop website and checked the FAQ’s, about whether they served Halal chicken in the UK, the website stated (March, 2025):
“DOES WINGSTOP USE HALAL MEAT?
All of our restaurants serve Halal chicken. Our suppliers are Halal certified and are leading suppliers of Halal chicken.
We take our responsibility to animal welfare seriously and would like to reassure customers that all our Halal chickens are pre-stunned to minimise suffering and fear before they’re hand-slaughtered, in adherence to Islamic principles.
Our suppliers’ Halal certifications are available upon request in our restaurants.”
Therefore, according to Wingstop in the UK their chicken is Halal and suitable for Muslims.

Wingstop in the U.S.: Not Halal Certified
America differs form the UK, the founding nation of Wingstop. Currently, Wingstop is not offering Halal-certified food in its American stores.
The entity has not declared any official PR committing to Halal methods nationwide. Beyond this, many U.S. stores sell pork-derived sides, potentially increasing the risk of cross-contamination.
This then means that for those aligning with Halal dietary principles, Wingstop in America may not be a suitable venue to eat at.
Yu can always check with your local American branch to find out how they run their kitchen etc.

Background Story
Wingstop was originally developed in 1994 in Garland, Texas, America, by Antonio Swad, a restaurateur with a vision & enthusiasim for bold, flavourful wings.
The brand was inspired by the aviation-themed diners of past eras i.e. 1930s and 1940s, Swad created Wingstop with a focus on a retro vibe as well as a solid focus on high quality tasty chicken wings.
The idea quickly took off, mainly due to the unique sauces & fresh, cooked-to-order approach. In the early 2000’s in particular 2003, Wingstop began franchising, expanding rapidly throughout America & in time globally.
Currently, Wingstop runs it’s operations in over 12 countries worldwide, which also includes the United Kingdom, where it has developed to local tastes & dietary requirements, which includes offering Halal-certified choices.
