In a landmark accomplishment, Pakistan’s space agency Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has successfully launched the countrys first hyperspectral satellite, named HS-1, from the Chinese mainland.

The satellite has teh ability to capture hundreds of narrow spectral bands to deliver fine tuned imagery of land, water, vegetation as well as urban spaces.

This advanced tech is should be able to transform Pakistan’s capabilities in precision agriculture, environmental monitoring, urban planning as well as emergency disaster response.

Officials say HS-1 will improve early warning systems & assist major infrastructure initiatives, supporting Pakistan’s strategic partnership with their longterm partner China & marking a significant step forward in the country’s space aspirations.
